Job Description

Are you a dependable caregiver who enjoys variety and can adapt to changing client needs? Home Care Assistance is hiring a reliable caregiver for a permanent on-call coverage position every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

This position is designed to provide coverage when scheduled caregivers call out. You will report to our Albuquerque office at 8:00 AM and remain available to be dispatched to clients who need coverage throughout your shift.

Important: This is an office-based standby and dispatch position, not a traditional shift at one assigned client's home.

You will be paid for your entire scheduled shift, whether you are dispatched to a client or remain on standby, in accordance with company policy.

Pay Rates

Your starting rate is based on your qualifying experience and certifications:

• $16/hour: 6+ months of caregiving experience
• $17/hour: Medical Assistant certification or 4+ years of caregiving experience
• $18/hour: CNA
• +$1/hour: Saturday and Sunday shifts

Final pay is based on verified experience, applicable certifications, and the position offered.

Schedule & On-Call Requirements

• Days: Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Hours: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
• Location: Report to our Albuquerque office at 8:00 AM and remain available for dispatch as directed.
• Standby: You must be comfortable spending downtime at the office while waiting for a coverage assignment.
• Dispatch: When a caregiver calls out and coverage is needed, you must answer your phone and be ready to travel to the assigned client's home.
• Travel: You must be willing to drive anywhere within our Albuquerque service area.
• Pay: You will be paid for your entire scheduled shift, whether you are dispatched or remain on standby.

This role requires flexibility, dependability, and the ability to respond to changing staffing needs throughout the day.

What You’ll Do

As an on-call caregiver, you will provide non-medical, one-on-one care to seniors in their homes when coverage is needed. Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Performing full transfers and pivot transfers safely
• Supporting mobility, fall prevention, and daily activities
• Using transfer equipment, including gait belts and Hoyer lifts, as appropriate and trained
• Providing care for clients living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including managing related behaviors with patience and professionalism
• Preparing meals and assisting with daily routines
• Providing medication reminders
• Performing light housekeeping and laundry
• Providing companionship and emotional support
• Following client care plans and safety procedures
• Responding to last‑minute assignments and adapting to different client needs

• Ability to remain reachable and available throughout the entire 8:00 AM–8:00 PM shift
• Ability to pass a nationwide background check
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and communication

Paid Orientation & Training

We provide paid orientation and hands-on training to prepare caregivers for the role. Training may include safe transfers, gait belt use, Hoyer lift operation, personal care, and other essential caregiving skills.

Orientation is generally held on Wednesdays. An offer letter and successful completion of required pre‑employment steps, including background clearance, are required before starting work.
