Job summary

LSI in Minnesota is seeking a Tool Maintenance Technician for permanent mold tooling used in aluminum casting. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, disassemble and inspect molds, and collaborate with production to resolve tooling issues.

The role requires reading blueprints, basic hydraulics knowledge, and strong troubleshooting skills. This is a full-time on-site position with growth opportunities and a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in tooling.
• 2+ years of experience in tool maintenance, preferably in permanent mold or foundry operations.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Familiarity with measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of mold coatings and release agents.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics and cooling systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on permanent molds and related tooling. Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble molds.
• Troubleshoot mold-related defects and operate tool room equipment such as milling machines, grinders, lathes, and polishing tools.
• Maintain mold cooling lines, ejector systems, slides, and cores.
• Ensure proper alignment and fit of mold components.
• Modify molds as required for process improvements or engineering changes.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve tooling issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper handling of heavy tooling.
• Assist in new mold trials and setup when required.
