Job summary

Fredericksburg Christian School is seeking a dedicated Substitute Teacher to support the school's mission by stepping in for absent teachers and assisting in various roles as directed by the Principal.

You will arrive prepared, follow lesson plans, maintain order, take attendance, and report hours with accuracy while modeling Christian character and a servant heart in a faith-centered educational setting. Prior teaching experience is valued but not required; college degree is appreciated.

Description

The Substitute Teacher supports and advances the mission of FCS by filling in for absent teachers and assisting in various roles as directed by the Principal; reports to the building Principal. Responsibilities of the Substitute Teacher include:

• Arrives on time to prepare for the day and assumes the teacher’s assigned responsibilities
• Follows the lesson plan as closely as possible and maintains an orderly environment
• Fulfills duties including taking attendance and communicating with the teacher regarding work accomplished, student behavior and any other pertinent information
• Reports hours worked in a timely and accurate manner

Requirements

• Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal routines (such as prayer and reading the Bible) and in the school setting (through regular participation in Prayer and Share devotional times and other spiritual development)
• Possesses Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people and readiness to share faith in Christ with students as part of our school’s mission
• Regular in attendance at an evangelical Protestant church
• Commitment to a biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
• If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
• Strong commitment to Christian education
• College degree and teaching experience preferred, but not required
• Ability to manage a class and relate well with students
