Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Perishable Department Manager in Raleigh, NC to lead the Perishable Department, hire and train staff, and drive top performance. You will coach associates, manage labor, and uphold Food Lion's customer-first culture while ensuring safety and quality across the department.

Responsibilities include achieving budgeted results, maintaining inventory accuracy, and using store tools to optimize operations.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Good understanding of store operations preferred.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Ability to lead and direct others.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment; Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position; requiring accreditation

Responsibilities

• Manage the Perishable Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates.
• Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management and formal appraisals for direct reports.
• Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity.
• Provide leadership and motivation to promote a culture aligned with Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.
• Support achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
• Create a positive shopping experience with friendly customer service and department product knowledge.
• Role model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Control store expenses through ordering, care for supplies and equipment.
• Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems and scheduling.
