Position Summary:

Responsible for negotiating the purchase of quality perishable products at competitive prices and maintaining adequate inventories to meet customer demand. Functions as a team member within the department and cross-functions, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Attain targeted profit margins as determined by the company's business goals. Maintain product costing and pricing and ensure accurate purchase orders.
  • Effectively implement buying/purchasing strategies such that product is purchased in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Manage perishable inventory levels to the designated goal level.
  • Effectively manage the disposition of obsolete perishable inventory.
  • Consult with vendors regarding current orders and new perishable products.
  • Initiate orders, and process related paperwork and documentation.
  • Provide product and pricing information to sales staff.
  • Investigate perishable product quality complaints.
  • Purchase and manage seafood products.
  • Complete special projects, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

1 - 2 years Perishable Purchasing is required

Excellent computer skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization.

Intermediate to proficient knowledge of Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates/2-year technical: Procurement, business management or related area

2-4 years Purchasing experience within foodservice industry

1-2 years seafood purchasing experience.
