Job summary

Penn State Health's Department of Neurosurgery seeks a fellowship-trained Peripheral Nerve Neurosurgeon to establish and grow a comprehensive program across Penn State Health's regional network. The role combines advanced surgical care with education, clinical research, and program development in an academically oriented health system.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent medical degree.
  • Completion of an accredited Neurosurgery Residency Program.
  • Significant experience and/or Fellowship training in Peripheral Nerve Surgery (CAST Accredited Peripheral Nerve Fellowship preferred).
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurological Surgery.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Must be able to obtain valid federal and state narcotics certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical treatment for patients with peripheral nerve disorders.
  • Continue to develop and grow a specialized Peripheral Nerve Surgery Program across Penn State Health.
  • Deliver care in both academic and community practice settings to expand patient access to highly specialized neurosurgical services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in resident and medical student education through clinical instruction, operative teaching, conferences, and mentorship.
  • Engage in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly activities that advance the field of neurosurgery.
  • Support departmental growth through outreach efforts, physician engagement, and referral network development.
  • Participate in departmental committees, faculty activities, and other responsibilities consistent with an academic faculty appointment.
