Job summary

Hartford HealthCare in New Britain, CT is seeking an OR support technician to help prepare operating rooms, assemble and transport equipment, and ensure sterile conditions for procedures. Responsibilities

  • Prepares ORs for scheduled and unscheduled procedures, as needed.
  • Assembles and provides necessary equipment for each procedure.
  • Safely handles and disposes of hazardous materials and sharps containers.
  • Transfers patients as required and assists with positioning.
  • Turns and positions patients during procedures and transports specimens to the lab.
  • Returns equipment from other care areas and restocks rooms.
  • Cleans and disinfects OR rooms and maintains storage areas.

Shift Detail: 8 hour shift; fluctuating hours starting 8:00am ending 7:30pm. Rotational weekend shifts 7:00a-3:30pm. Holiday rotation.

Job Description
  • Prepares OR's for scheduled and unscheduled procedures as needed.
  • Assembles and provides necessary equipment for each procedure.
  • Safely handles/disposes of hazardous materials and sharps containers.
  • Transfers patients safely as required
  • Turning and positioning patients during surgical procedures.
  • Transports and protects patients- specimens to laboratory.
  • Retrieves needed equipment from other patient care areas.
  • Participates in room set-up for cases
  • Cleans/disinfects OR rooms.
  • Participates in room set-up between cases
  • Handles/protects patients- belongings according to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Restocks shelves with supplies from Central Stores or SPD.
  • Maintains OR equipment storage room

Restocks patient supplies and cleaning supplies as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education Qualifications:
  • High school diploma (equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, or two (2) years experience in a direct patient care/nursing support role
