Job summary

Wayne HealthCare in Greenville, OH is seeking a full-time Surgical Technician to support operating room teams. The position is 36 hours per week with day shift hours and occasional weekend call; flexibility required to meet department needs.

Responsibilities include instrument counts, sterile field maintenance, medication labeling, setup of the sterile field, patient positioning, and participation in timeouts.

Qualifications

• Certification by the National Association of Surgical Technician’s is required.
• 1 year surgical technician experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Co-responsibility with the registered nurse for correct counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and sharps.
• Maintain knowledge of identification and labeling of medications on the sterile field.
• Set up the sterile field back table and Mayco stand with instruments, supplies, etc.
• Position patients correctly.
• Ensure safety in transporting patients.
• Select correct instrumentation by size/age of patient.
• Ensure correct prostheses for each procedure.
• Assist team with gowning, gloving, and draping the patient.
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during timeouts.
• Meet physical demands of the position.
• Engage in ongoing training to learn new OR functions.
