Job summary

Mat-Su Regional Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room as a PRN with varied shifts. The role prepares sterile fields, assists with procedures, and ensures instruments and supplies are ready and handled correctly.

Qualifications include a Technical School graduate in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing, or an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences, and 0–2 years OR experience. BCLS required; CST preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required or
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required

Responsibilities

• Prepares and manages the operating room for surgical cases with aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies accurately.
• Handles, sterilizes, inspects, and assembles instruments per instructions for use.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse for safety.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfer for procedures.
• Maintains physician preference cards and ensures available supplies.
• Reprocesses and sterilizes instruments following protocols.
• Restocks supplies and prepares OR for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
