Job summary

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, CO, invites newly graduated or transitioning nurses to join the Periop 101 Program. This six-to-nine-month, full-time education and training program is designed to build the skills for safe, high-quality perioperative patient care under the guidance of the Perioperative Nurse Educator.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an ADN in Nursing.
• BSN preferred from an accredited program.
• Minimum of one year in area of specialty or acute care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Circulating Nurse and/or Scrub Nurse for surgical and procedural cases after training.
• Perform scrub duties: preparation, organization, and handling of instruments and supplies.
• Maintain sterile field and perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse.
• Prepare the operating room and verify preoperative requirements.
• Perform circulating nurse duties before, during, and after procedures.
• Adhere to AORN standards, infection prevention practices, and patient safety.
