Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a perioperative registered nurse to organize and administer safe, individualized perioperative care through assessment, observation and nursing intervention.

The role involves patient education, collaboration with the health care team, thorough patient assessment, aseptic procedures, and maintaining clear documentation to ensure safe surgical care and positive patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• 2 yrs. of acute care experience preferred; recent surgical experience desired.
• BLS Certification. AORN Certification desirable.
• Valid NYS RN License.

Responsibilities

• Patient education - orients patients to operative events and procedures.
• Patient Care - collaborates with health care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Patient Assessment - performs thorough nursing assessment focused on operative event.
• Treatment/Procedures - follows asepsis and uses OR equipment properly.
• Communication - interfaces information between health care team and patient/family.
• Documentation - records pertinent patient information using the nursing process.
• Cost Containment - uses supplies economically.
• CQI - assists in data collection for quality improvement.
• Supervision - supports the surgical team and coordinates activities.
• O. R. Call - contributes to 24-hour OR coverage.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
