Job summary

Truman Medical Centers is seeking a dedicated Perioperative PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Lakewood Medical Center team in Kansas City, MO. The role spans operating room care and post-anesthesia care, ensuring safe transitions from pre-op through PACU recovery.

Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, managing post-operative pain, and collaborating with the surgical team. Minimum RN license and BCLS/ACLS are required, with PALS and radiology competency optional based on department

Qualifications

Current Missouri RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
BCLS certification required.
ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
PALS certification if required by department.
Radiology training/competency if radiology functions are part of role.

Responsibilities

Operate in the OR to provide comprehensive perioperative care.
In PACU, monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia and manage pain.
Perform pre-operative assessments and assist in planning patient care.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to ensure safety and efficiency.
Educate patients and families about the recovery process and expectations.
Support nursing students and new staff; participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies.
