Job summary

USPI St Joesphs Outpatient Surgery Center is hiring a RN OR Circulator PRN. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating perioperative patient care in a fast-paced ASC.

You will communicate with physicians, patients, families, and other departments, and may participate in quality improvement projects. The position requires attention to patient safety, accurate documentation, medication administration, and helping ensure correct-site/level procedures and infection

Responsibilities

• Assess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
• Develop an individualized perioperative plan of care.
• Protect patient from injury caused by chemical, electrical, laser, positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects.
• Perform count procedures to protect patient from unintended retained foreign objects.
• Manage patient’s specimen(s) in the appropriate manner.
• Communicate patient’s current status throughout the continuum of care.
• Administer medication(s) appropriately.
• Perform interventions to maintain wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.
• Perform interventions to maintain the status of various body systems and balances.
• Protect patient from infection.
• Assess knowledge level of patient or designated support person and provide education regarding perioperative care and recovery.
• Actively involve patient in decisions affecting perioperative plan of care and rehabilitation process.
• Protect patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy.
• Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
• Evaluate patient’s progress toward outcomes.
• Transfer care as appropriate.
• Delegate tasks as appropriate according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
• Document nursing care.
• Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
• Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
