Job summary

Franciscan Orthopedic Surgery Center in Carmel, IN, seeks a Perioperative Registered Nurse to organize, direct, and deliver direct patient care across the pre, intra, and post-operative continuum. You will collaborate with the surgical team, maintain patient records, and ensure a safe perioperative environment.

The role emphasizes leadership, care coordination, compliance with HIPAA, and effective communication with the health-care team.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Active RN license in the appropriate state
• CPR certification
• ACLS and PALS certification
• Evidence of leadership qualities
• Professional references attesting to ethical conduct
• Proficiency in English sufficient for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication
• Preferred: PACU experience
• Preferred: ASC experience
• Computer literacy

Responsibilities

• Leadership: Provide unit-level leadership and serve as a resource for the Surgery Center, including interactions with accrediting organizations and marketing efforts.
• Center operations: Organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective case management.
• Team: Participate as a team member in support of the peri-operative process.
• Communications: Update others responsible for patient care about patient status and ensure continuity of care.
• Compliance: Follow HIPAA and privacy laws to maintain patient privacy.
• Pre/Post operations: Conduct admission assessments, plan care, and discharge patients when criteria are met.
• Procedures: Provide total pre/intra/post care and assist in colonoscopy procedures as needed.
• Patient care: Greet patients, provide comfort, and document care and discharge instructions.
