Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) with perioperative focus to care for ambulatory and in-house surgical patients. The role includes pre-, intra-, and post-operative responsibilities, administering medications and coordinating with the health care team.

RNs may float to the hospital as needed to ensure patient safety and quality care. Required KS RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS within 90 days, and BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates awareness of patient rights and safety in care.
• Understands legal aspects of patient care and risk minimization.
• Demonstrates competency in psychomotor nursing skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and non-verbal communication required.
• Ability to perform medication calculations and basic math for equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care per nurse practice act; assess and collect data.
• Develop a prioritized plan of care based on patient problems and outcomes.
• Deliver care consistently; promote continuum of care.
• Prepare equipment and assist with procedures and testing.
• Document accurately in patient records and review results.
• Respond effectively in emergencies and maintain standards of care.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.
• Contribute to quality improvement and departmental goals.
