Qualifikationen

• One year GI, OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standings.
• BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days of employment or current.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of employment or current.
• GI Nursing certification is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Assess patient status throughout the perioperative episode of care.
• Develop an individualized perioperative plan of care.
• Protect the patient from injury and adhere to safety protocols.
• Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and report unsafe conditions.
• Speak up about safety concerns and advocate for the patient.
• Handle specimens per facility policy.
• Maintain universal precautions and time-out procedures.
• Communicate patient status to the care team throughout the continuum.
• Administer medications using the 8 rights of medication administration.
• Maintain aseptic technique and plan of care.
• Provide patient monitoring and care aligned with policies.
• Ensure instruments and scopes are prepared and functioning.
• Maintain tissue perfusion and normal physiology postoperatively.
• Protect patient from infection and ensure privacy and dignity.
• Provide education on nutrition, medications, pain, and psychosocial responses.
• Involve patient/family in decisions about perioperative care and recovery.
• Demonstrate collaborative teamwork and participate in quality improvement.
• Document care accurately and timely.
• Complete hand-offs concisely and effectively.
• Delegate tasks per applicable nursing acts and regulations.
