Job summary

AVPSEES Group is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide perioperative patient care in a surgical setting. The role involves preop, intraop and post-op assessments, applying nursing processes, and collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The RN will educate patients and families, maintain safety standards, and adapt care to each patient’s age and health status in a fast-paced ASC environment.

Qualifications

• Role requires a Registered Nurse to oversee perioperative care.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient status on admission to the preop area, the operating room and/or the post-op area.
• Provides safe, therapeutic care using the nursing process and diagnoses, with prioritization and coordination of interventions.
• Documents interventions and patient responses.
• Ensures organized and timely patient care.
• Utilizes nursing care standards in planning and implementing care.
• Communicates patient condition information to surgeons, anesthesia, management and staff.
• Safely carries out physicians' orders and documents activities.
• Initiates and participates in patient and family education and assesses learning needs.
• Demonstrates understanding of patients’ cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in care.
• Participates in pre- and post-op calls and communicates problems to the appropriate person.
• Maintains RN competencies within the area (e.g., OR circulator, instrument/sponges handling, skin prep).
• Maintains competencies in conscious sedation administration and monitoring of sedated patients.
• Protects sedated patients by identifying safety hazards and minimizing exposure to maintain privacy and body temperature.
• Practices safety, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precautions.
• Assesses and implements care throughout the surgical process.
• Correlates clinical data with nursing care for patient age, sex and health status.
• Exhibits excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to meet department needs.
• Documents and performs nursing care in assigned area.
