Job summary

Albany Medical Center's Orthopedic and Robotic Surgical Services seeks a full‑time Physician Assistant to join the busy Perioperative Surgical team at the main campus in Albany, NY, with occasional work at the South Clinical Campus. The role emphasizes perioperative care, first/second‑assist duties, and collaborative mentoring across specialties.

The ideal candidate will have a NYS license as a PA or NP, with ACLS/BLS certification and experience in EMR/billing systems.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program or
• Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with RNFA training
• Licensed and actively registered as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York State
• Proficiency with computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems
• ACLS/BLS certification required
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
• HIPAA compliance at all times

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative care for surgical patients
• Assist surgeons during a wide range of procedures, including robotic assistive in general surgery and orthopedics
• Perform first and second-assist duties in the operating room
• Collaborate with perioperative nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient patient care
• Maintain proficiency in evolving surgical techniques through ongoing professional development
• Document encounters, operative notes, and clinical findings accurately
