Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for full-time day shifts. The role provides direct patient care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases in a collaborative surgical environment.

The OR RN will work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient perioperative care. Requires DC RN license, BSN preferred, and at least 2 years of OR experience with BLS; ACLS and CNOR preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• DC RN License required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of operating room or perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• CNOR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for surgical patients.
• Prepare operating rooms with necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
• Verify patient identity, procedure, surgical site, and consent prior to surgery.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention standards throughout procedures.
• Function in the role of circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse during surgical procedures.
• Monitor patient condition and respond appropriately to changes during surgery.
• Assist surgeons and procedural teams during operative procedures.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient care, surgical counts, medications, and implants.
• Coordinate with anesthesia providers and postoperative care teams for smooth patient transitions.
• Advocate for patient safety and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Participate in emergency response situations within the surgical setting.
• Maintain knowledge of surgical equipment, instruments, and advanced technology.
• Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and postoperative expectations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
