Job summary

UT Medical Center is seeking an experienced perioperative Registered Nurse to serve as Assistant Manager of the Orthopaedic Operating Room in Knoxville, TN. The role supports six ORs, including two trauma rooms, within a 24/7 Level I Trauma Center.

Responsibilities include coordinating case flow, leading perioperative staff, onboarding, and ensuring safety and quality across operations. Flexible scheduling is required for departmental needs.

Qualifications

• BSN is required.
• Current Tennessee Registered Nurse license is required.
• Minimum of two years perioperative nursing experience.
• Orthopaedic operating room experience required.
• Acute-care hospital experience preferred.
• Previous leadership experience preferred (Charge RN, Educator, Coordinator, or similar).
• Must reside within 30 minutes of UT Medical Center in Tennessee.
• Flexible scheduling based on departmental needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations and case flow across six orthopaedic operating rooms.
• Provide frontline clinical leadership and oversight to perioperative staff.
• Support surgeons and staff throughout intraoperative care.
• Assist with employee scheduling and payroll functions.
• Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, and training.
• Develop, evaluate, and maintain staff competencies.
• Provide departmental education and reinforce clinical best practices.
• Assist with employee coaching and performance evaluations.
• Support policies and safe practices.
• Address operational concerns through problem-solving and decisions.
