Job summary
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in San Diego seeks a Peri-op Surgical Clinic and Procedures Clinical Nurse Educator to provide expert education and clinical support to nursing staff.
The role leads education programs, develops competency assessments, and mentors staff to strengthen patient care and outcomes. Responsibilities include designing educational plans aligned with facility goals, leading simulation-based training, and collaborating with nursing leadership to advance EBPI and quality
Qualifications
- English language proficiency required.
- Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
- State license required upon bridge program completion.
- Foreign-trained nurses must have current full/unrestricted registration in the U.S.
- Academic requirements and licensure pathways for entry into nursing roles are specified by VA Handbook 5005 Appendix G6.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements Nursing Education strategic plans for staff.
- Provides leadership and consultation to establish standards of care within Surgical Specialty Clinics.
- Designs and evaluates orientation, competencies, and ongoing staff education.
- Leads simulation-based training, workshops, and clinical skill labs.
- Mentors staff to enhance critical thinking, decision-making, and evidence-based practice.
- Collaborates with NEaR leadership and management to align education with facility goals.
