Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit is seeking an Environmental Services Associate (Peri-operative Assistant) to support the Operating Room team. You will help prepare the OR, transport patients, and ensure a sterile, safe environment for surgical procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in surgical services or related settings, and current BLS-A certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in surgical services, sterile processing, patient care environment, or related departments.
• Current BLS-A Certification or ability to become certified within one month of job start date.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and clean the operating room, ensuring a sterile environment for surgical procedures.
• Assist with patient transport, positioning, and safety during intra-operative procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical equipment according to established protocols.
• Support pre/post-operative patient care under the supervision of registered nurses.
• Respond to emergent situations following established procedures.
• Participate in ongoing education to enhance skills and knowledge in peri-operative care.

Education
