Overview

Position Highlights:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours/week.
  • Hours: Day Shift. Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm
  • Location: Lombard

Responsibilities

The Perioperative Care Technician works under the supervision of the RN in delivering skilled and effective perioperative care and all related functions. The Technician provides indirect patient care in the perioperative care setting. This person assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment and participates in the departments continuous quality improvement activities

  • Assures availability of supplies required for the care of the patient.
  • Participates in OR set up, turnover, cleaning, and restocking.
  • Maintains sterile technique in opening of surgical supplies and instrumentation.
  • Cleans, prepares, medical supplies and equipment.
  • Provides for aseptic technique throughout a procedure in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Cleans each OR after each procedure following AORN guidelines
  • Terminates each OR at the end of the schedule
  • In charge of linen for each OR
  • Brings equipment that is needed for different procedures to the OR suite and cleans the equipment after use before returning to the equipment room
  • Possesses general knowledge of equipment and supplies.
  • Assures availability of supplies required for the procedure prior to the case.
  • Understands and practices principles of sterilization, universal precautions, and hazardous materials management to process instruments, equipment, and supplies through the stages of decontamination.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently under established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality.

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma
  • BCLS Certification Required
  • Minimum of one year experience in ambulatory or acute care setting

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $16.30-24.50/hr, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
