Job summary

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Perinatal Sonographer Lead to oversee the Perinatal Sonography team within the Ultrasound Department. You will coordinate staffing, supervise equipment operation, and liaise with physicians and nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient imaging and care.

You will mentor staff, supervise competency validation, and participate in QA and education activities to advance perinatal imaging and ensure compliance with Mercy values.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or GED.
• RDMS certification required (OB/GYN and Fetal Echo preferred).
• BLS certification required.
• Experience as a Perinatal Sonographer or similar role preferred.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Perinatal Sonographer Lead, you are responsible for overseeing the performance and quality of the team of Perinatal Sonographers within the Ultrasound Department and serves as a liaison for physicians, nursing, and operational teams, providing daily supervision, guidance, training, and competency verification in a highly technical and professional manner to meet patient care needs.

Everyday you will, Coordinate the activities and schedules of the Sonography staff to ensure proper staffing for patient volumes. Operate all sonography equipment with expertise, overseeing service and maintenance of equipment, software, and IT systems. Interact appropriately with physicians and staff regarding scan quality, protocols, and competencies. Assist in developing or providing presentations and educational activities for the department, and maintain and prepare the imaging database. Remain current on perinatal sonography and care issues and technology to disseminate information appropriately, submit annual Nuchal Translucency Registry data, and attend various meetings and educational sessions related to the position and department.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate exceptional proficiency in all duties and essential functions of a Sonographer III. Act as a clinical preceptor and mentor responsible for the training and competency verification of new staff, students, and existing staff on new techniques and equipment. Maintain a positive attitude at all times, consistently demonstrate a team-player attitude, and display Mercy values including honesty and trustworthiness. Participate in PCI QA and statistical data collection as necessary.
