Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System seeks a skilled Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures in maternal-fetal medicine. Qualifications

• Three years of diagnostic ultrasound experience in a high-risk obstetrical environment.
• ARDMS registration in fetal echocardiography.
• Registration in Obstetrics and Gynecology at time of hire.
• Graduation from an accredited US school or equivalent.
• Proficiency in sterile techniques for invasive procedures.
• Proficiency in MCA and UA studies.
• Advanced knowledge to perform diagnostic 3D and 4D ultrasound.
• Ability to extend standard imaging protocol per patient history or findings.
• Prefer customer service skills for patients, physicians, visitors and co-workers.
• Prefer experience with an electronic practice management and electronic medical record system.
• Prefer effective oral and written communication skills.
• Prefer ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Prefer initiative and self-direction.
• Prefer ability to share day/weekend & holiday on-call with other perinatal sonographers, if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures in obstetric patients.
• Interface with physicians, staff, and external entities regarding ultrasound matters.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with OSHA and HIPAA standards.
• Assist in scheduling and management of on-call duties as needed.

Job description

Performs diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related ultrasound-guided procedures in First Physician’s Group’s Office of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Performs diagnostic ultrasounds, including level I, Level II, nuchal translucency and fetal echo cardiography. Observes strict confidentiality in dealing with patients and patient’s information and meets all compliance standards. Works in partnership with the physicians and other staff to provide the best care possible for all patients maintaining an attitude of service and excellence and conducts his/her daily interactions in a way that demonstrates a positive organizational attitude and effectiveness and models the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Interfaces with the medical staff and other outside entities regarding ultrasound matters and maintains a demeanor complimentary of medical ethics. Assists in compliance of OSHA standards.

• Require three (3) years of diagnostic ultrasound experience in a high-risk obstetrical environment.
• Require registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in fetal echocardiography.
• Require registration in Obstetrics and Gynecology at time of hire.
• Require graduation from an accredited US school or equivalent.

• Require proficiency in middle cerebral artery (MCA) and umbilical artery (UA) studies.
• Require demonstrated advanced knowledge level to perform diagnostic 3D and 4D ultrasound.
• Require state-of-the‑art knowledge of measurements and calculations that will be applied to each study.
• Require the ability to extend standard imaging protocol as required by patient history or sonographic findings.
• Prefer demonstrated customer service skills to provide exceptional services to patients, physicians, visitors and co-workers.
• Prefer experience with an electronic practice management and electronic medical record system.
• Prefer effective oral and written communication skills.
• Prefer demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
