Job summary

The Woman’s Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Technician for the Perinatal Mental Health Unit in Baton Rouge, LA. You will provide emotional support, bedside care, and teaching to perinatal patients while assisting the healthcare team during the perinatal period.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, with two years of behavioral/mental health experience preferred; CNA and Mental Health Technician certification are desirable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of prior experience in behavioral and mental health preferred.
• Perinatal care experience is desirable but not required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is highly preferred.
• Relevant Mental Health Technician certification is highly desired upon hire.
• Crisis/Violence Intervention Training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support, guidance, and encouragement to perinatal patients.
• Provide bedside care and teaching at the bedside including family when appropriate.
• Treat patients and families with respect and cultural sensitivity.
• Monitor patients' mental health status and report concerns to the healthcare team.
