Jefferson Health is seeking a dedicated Staff Perfusionist in Philadelphia, PA to operate and manage extracorporeal circulation equipment during medical procedures. Responsibilities include providing service for adults and elderly patients, as well as setting up and managing ancillary devices.
Qualified candidates must graduate from an accredited Perfusion School and be licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. This full-time position offers a rotating work shift with a comprehensive benefits package.
The primary function of the Staff Perfusionist is to safely operate and manage extracorporeal circulation equipment (heart/lung machine, veno‑venous bypass, ventricular assist devices, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) during any medical or surgical procedure that requires support or replacement of the patient’s cardiopulmonary or circulatory function, such as open‑heart surgery and liver transplantation. The Perfusionist also sets up, delivers, manages, maintains, and operates ancillary services, devices, and equipment including intra‑aortic balloon pumps, autologous blood recovery systems, ventricular assist devices, ECMO, and point‑of‑care laboratory testing equipment.
This position requires the Perfusionist to provide service for adults (18–64 years), older adults (65 years and older), and the frail elderly with an understanding of their functional development.
Must be a graduate of an accredited Perfusion School, unless started before April 15 1981, in which case a minimum of 2 years of college (60 credits) with an emphasis in science is required. A bachelor’s degree in a health‑care field is preferred. New graduates and experienced perfusionists are considered.
Staff Perfusionists must be licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine or the Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine and renew biannually.
Staff Perfusionists must be Certified (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, or be Certification Eligible (ACP).
Rotating (United States of America) with after‑hours and weekend call, including holiday call.
