Job summary

The Child Center of NY in Whitestone, Queens, NY, invites applications for a Performing Arts Activity Specialist who designs and facilitates project-based learning in dance, theatre, or other arts. You will collaborate with site leadership to plan, develop and execute quality activities and coordinate art showcases and events.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of experience with youth, strong supervisory skills, and competence with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience working with children and/or youth in your specialization.
• Exemplary supervisory skills at elementary level (middle school or high school aged youth) and aptitude for motivating people.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities.
• Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty.
• Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc.
• Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources.
• Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies. Timely submit all program and certification related documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
