Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking a Dance Activity Specialist to design and facilitate project-based learning experiences through dance for youth. You will collaborate with site leadership to plan a engaging program, develop relationships with participants and families, and coordinate showcases and events in the specialty area.

Qualifications

• College student or HS graduate 18+.
• 2 years’ experience with children/youth.
• Exemplary supervisory skills for middle/high school aged youth.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and execute quality project-based youth activities.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families and school staff.
• Coordinate events like showcases and productions.
• Engage participants in activities and provide resources.
• Prepare paperwork and submit program/certification documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Summary

The Dance Activity Specialist is responsible for designing and facilitating project-based learning experiences within a dance.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities.
• Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty
• Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc.
• Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources.
• Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies. Timely submit all program and certification related documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• College Student or High School Graduate 18 yrs. or older.
• 2 years’ experience working with children and/or youth in your specialization.
• Exemplary supervisory skills at elementary level (middle school or high school aged youth) and aptitude for motivating people.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.

Days/Hours: Monday- Friday- 2:00pm-6:00PM

Qualifications Preferred

• Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others based on client needs.
