Job summary

Nabors is seeking a Performance Tools Technician II to install, train, and support NDS software on drilling rigs. The role travels to rigs to survey equipment, assess integration needs, and assist with installation timelines.

You will work with engineering to diagnose issues, debug when needed, and provide on-site solutions. The position requires rotational shifts and travel (domestic/international) with strong electrical and HMI/TD systems familiarity.

Qualifications

5 years' electrical / oil and gas industry experience.
Advanced understanding of electrical systems and wiring.
Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder diagrams.
Experience viewing and editing PLC programs.
Understanding of VFDs and SCRs.
Familiarity with flashing VFD firmware and changing parameters.
Versed in Windows software, networking, electronics.
Familiarity with popular HMI systems.
Advanced understanding of TD systems.
Understanding of encoders / troubleshooting encoder circuit.
Must be able to work rotational shifts & travel (domestic/international).

Responsibilities

Install hardware and software required to deploy NDS services on drilling rigs including SmartROS, RTXT, RigCloud Lite.
Survey rigs to understand equipment requirements for integration.
Troubleshoot remotely and on location when system is down or malfunctioning.
Train customers and rig personnel how to use software to improve drilling performance.
Train rig personnel how to maintain equipment to maximize up time.
Contribute to the development of best practices/standards.
Work with engineering to develop new products and resolve issues.
Document common troubleshooting problems.
Rotational on-call escalation.
Mentor junior technicians.
