About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Performance Test Engineer to join a technology team supporting enterprise retail applications. This role will be responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing performance testing strategies to ensure application scalability, stability, reliability, and overall performance.
The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on experience with performance testing tools, Java and Spring Boot performance analysis, cloud technologies, observability platforms, and CI/CD automation. Experience with chaos engineering, AI‑assisted engineering workflows, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations is highly valued.
Candidates must be based in Latin America and be fluent in both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Design performance test models and production‑like load scenarios in collaboration with development and engineering teams.
- Execute and analyze load, stress, and stability tests to identify bottlenecks and performance issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot defects and validate performance improvements.
- Analyze Java and Spring Boot application performance, including thread dumps, heap analysis, and resource utilization.
- Define performance metrics, monitor application behavior, and recommend improvements to scalability, capacity, reliability, and response times.
- Develop and maintain performance testing automation, including shift‑left testing practices and automated reporting.
- Leverage AI‑assisted engineering workflows and tools to improve performance testing efficiency and automation.
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous performance validation.
- Use monitoring and observability tools to analyze performance trends and communicate findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Recommend improvements to performance engineering processes, tools, and execution practices.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in performance testing or performance engineering.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner Cloud, JMeter, BlazeMeter, NeoLoad, or equivalent platforms.
- Practical experience with chaos engineering tools and practices, such as Chaos Monkey, Chaos Mesh, or similar solutions.
- Strong understanding of Java and Spring Boot performance tuning, including thread dump analysis and heap analysis.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or equivalent technologies.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience with performance monitoring and dashboards using Grafana, Splunk, New Relic, or similar tools.
- Experience automating CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Bitbucket, Bamboo, Git, Ansible, or similar technologies.
- Experience with service virtualization tools such as BlazeMeter, OpenText Service Virtualization, or equivalent platforms.
- Ability to write complex SQL and NoSQL queries for data extraction, validation, and performance analysis.
- Practical experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and integrating AI capabilities through CLI tools, VS Code, or similar development environments.
- Experience using AI‑assisted workflows to automate performance engineering tasks, improve testing processes, and generate reports beyond basic prompt‑based interactions.
- Fluent English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional and international teams.
- Must be currently based in a Latin American country and able to work Eastern Time (ET) hours.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in the retail industry, particularly with high‑traffic applications, e‑commerce platforms, or enterprise retail systems.
- Experience implementing shift‑left performance testing and integrating automated performance checks into software delivery pipelines.
What We're Looking For
A proactive, analytical engineer who can independently lead performance testing activities, identify complex performance bottlenecks, collaborate effectively with development teams, and introduce modern automation and AI‑assisted practices into the performance engineering lifecycle.
