Job summary

Charter Global is seeking a Performance Test Engineer in Reston, VA to design and execute performance tests, model workloads, and analyze bottlenecks across application, database, and cloud layers for scalable enterprise systems.

The role requires 5+ years in performance testing/engineering with hands-on NeoLoad experience, CI/CD test automation, and AWS. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with willingness to visit the Reston office as needed.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: Performance Test Engineer

Location: Reston, VA

Duration: 6-12 Months+

Notes: Performance testing, resiliency testing, performance engineering, or quality engineering for enterprise applications, including hands-on experience with workload modeling, performance test design, resiliency test scenarios, failover validation, test execution, monitoring, bottleneck analysis, recovery analysis, and results reporting. Experience with NeoLoad or similar Performance testing tools, CI/CD performance test automation, cloud platforms such as AWS, database performance validation, and large-scale data warehouse or data lake environments is preferred.

In-person interview required and should be flexible to work in hybrid environment (should be willing to go to Reston office when/if needed).

Purpose: Leads and performs performance testing, performance engineering, and scalability analysis for enterprise applications, cloud-native platforms, data warehouse solutions, and data lake ecosystems. Defines performance test strategies, designs realistic workload models, develops and executes performance tests using tools such as NeoLoad, and analyzes system behavior across application, database, infrastructure, and cloud layers. Collaborates with product, development, architecture, infrastructure, and operations teams to identify performance risks, establish baselines, validate non-functional requirements, and provide actionable recommendations to improve throughput, reliability, resiliency, and user experience.

Required Experience: 5 years experience in performance testing, performance engineering, or quality engineering for enterprise applications, including hands-on experience with workload modeling, performance test design, test execution, monitoring, bottleneck analysis, and results reporting. Experience with NeoLoad or similar performance testing tools, CI/CD performance test automation, cloud platforms such as AWS, database performance validation, and large-scale data warehouse or data lake environments is preferred.
