Job summary

Volto Consulting in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a senior Performance Engineer to lead performance testing initiatives for web, API, and backend systems. You will design and maintain JMeter scripts, execute load tests, and guide optimization efforts across engineering and DevOps teams.

You will develop automated test suites for Next.js applications, perform API load testing (REST/SOAP), and ensure tests are integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in performance testing and engineering best practices
• Hands-on with Apache JMeter: test plans, scripting, listeners, distributed testing
• Front-end performance testing for Next.js apps
• Design and deployment of a performance test framework
• API performance testing (REST, SOAP) and automation
• Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML
• Experience with monitoring tools and JVM metrics
• Familiarity with CI/CD: Jenkins, Git
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain performance test scripts for web, API, and backend systems.
• Conduct load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing for applications and microservices.
• Develop automated test suites for Next.js apps, including unit, integration, and E2E tests.
• Perform API performance testing and integrate with automation frameworks.
• Analyze results, identify bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Monitor CPU, memory, GC, I/O, and network during tests.
• Collaborate with Dev and DevOps to optimize performance and infrastructure.
• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Prepare detailed performance reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Continuously improve testing frameworks, tools, and best practices.
