The Alley Theatre in Houston is seeking a Performance House Manager to oversee ushers and coordinate housekeeping, engineering, security, and valet services. You will supervise staff, ensure smooth performance starts, and manage guest flow and safety.
Shifts run evenings and weekends with rapid decision-making on duty. Responsibilities include preparing incident reports, coordinating with the stage manager and box office, and maintaining lobby decorum.

Rob Melrose, Artistic Director at the Alley, took over as artistic leader of the organization in 2019. His vision for the future of the Alley is both thrilling and ambitious. The Performance House Manager supervises ushers and directs housekeeping, engineering, security, and valet requests from guests. The manager is responsible for patron evacuation in an emergency. Position scheduling is determined by the performance schedule of the Alley Theatre. Shifts range from four to six hours; applicants must be available nights and weekends. Manager reports to the FOH Director and apprises Director of Developments in customer service on a per performance basis.
In addition to the duties listed above, the Alley Theatre expects the following of each employee: adheres to theatres policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets department productivity standards; participates in Alley Theatre events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE)
Although the duties of the position are predominately indoors, the employee may need to be outdoors during emergency evacuations.
