Caldera + Lab is a premium skincare brand for men and one of the fastest-growing DTC startups in the US. Backed by Series A funding and recognized on BeautyMatter's 2025 Future50 list, we're entering an exciting new chapter as we redefine men's skincare with innovative products and a growth-driven, entrepreneurial team culture.
About the Role:
We're hiring a Performance Creative Designer to make static paid-social creative a reliable growth engine, starting with Meta.
This is not a traditional graphic design production role. You will turn customer language, audience insight, product knowledge, and performance data into testable static-ad concepts. You will shape the creative idea as well as the design: identify the tension or motivation behind an ad, form a clear hypothesis, build the asset, read the result, and make the next iteration smarter.
Reporting to the Director of Performance Creative on our Growth Team, you will move quickly while protecting the Caldera + Lab brand. The initial focus is Meta static ads, with a clear path to grow into performance creative strategy as you prove strong creative judgment and build a repeatable learning system.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with one of the industry's most dynamic growth teams, with real upward mobility for people who have the potential to become leaders, earn promotions, and take on more responsibility.
What You'll Work On:
Creative Strategy and Concepting:
- Independently develop static-ad concepts from customer insight, creative whitespace, consumer psychology, product truths, and performance learnings.
- Create clear hypotheses, hooks, proof devices, visual directions, and persuasion systems that can be tested - not just visual reskins of the same idea.
- Explore high-potential angles and formats, including curiosity-led statics, expert endorsement, and educational carousels, when they are right for the brief.
Meta Static Ad Production:
- Own platform-ready Meta static ads and carousels from concept through final execution, including variants across headlines, proof, offers, visuals, calls to action, and placements.
- Turn one strong concept into disciplined, testable variations quickly while maintaining quality, clarity, and attention to detail.
- Build assets that are product-accurate and designed for the way people actually encounter paid social.
AI-Enabled Production Systems:
- Stay current with emerging AI and paid-social creative tools. Use AI tools and agentic workflows to speed up research, ideation, asset development, organization, and iteration - then apply strong human judgment to every final asset.
- Build and maintain reusable context libraries: customer language, historical performance, product facts, approved claims, brand references, visual components, prompts, templates, and learnings.
- Develop practical workflow shortcuts that make the team faster without sacrificing craft, accuracy, or traceability.
Performance Learning and Brand Stewardship:
- Review creative results with Growth, diagnose what likely worked or did not, document the learning, and turn it into the next test.
- Help create playbooks that compound learning across briefs, concepts, and future launches.
- Protect brand appeal, product accuracy, claims standards, and platform compliance. A high-performing ad that compromises trust or feels off-brand is not a win.
How Success Is Measured:
- North-star metric: the number of winning static ads you produce.
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years creating paid-social, direct-response, or performance creative for a DTC brand, consumer brand, or agency.
- Hands-on experience using AI image tools, workflow automation, and agentic systems as part of reliable production workflows - not just experimentation.
- A portfolio showing real paid creative context: the hypothesis or brief, what you made, how it performed, what you learned, and what you tested next.
- A practical understanding of paid social and consumer psychology. You can explain why a hook, proof point, visual, or format may influence behavior.
- Fluency in Figma, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite plus a working knowledge of Meta placements and specifications.
- Strong visual-design fundamentals: hierarchy, typography, composition, image selection, retouching, layout, and static-ad production.
- Experience building or working from organized asset, insight, prompt, or brand libraries.
- Comfort interpreting performance signals, separating useful insight from noise, and changing direction when the data challenges your initial idea.
- A collaborative, low-ego approach to feedback and iteration, with exceptional attention to brand standards, product accuracy, and claims.
- A background in beauty, grooming, or premium lifestyle brands is a plus, not just a checkbox.
What We Offer:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance fully paid by the company for employees and their families
