Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Performance Control Software Engineer for Platform Architecture to measure and optimize power and performance across Apple silicon.

You will design in-kernel performance control algorithms, run experiments, and collaborate with OS, hardware and application teams to deliver efficient workloads. This role requires strong kernel development in C/C++, OS design experience, and a track record with performance instrumentation.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
• Experience with operating system design and implementation.
• Kernel software development in C or C++.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, prototyping, implementation and code review of kernel features related to performance control, power management and scheduling.
• Design and conduct experiments to characterize execution efficiency and the effects of physical constraints such as temperature or power delivery.
• Use empirical methodology to illuminate power–performance tradeoffs.
• Influence cross-functional teams across processor architecture, silicon engineering, system integration and application software performance.
• Find opportunities to improve measurement and control capabilities of Apple silicon.
