Job summary

Lodestar is seeking a Software Engineer I - Perception to join the perception and machine vision teams at MITHRIL's center to rapidly grow our vision and perception models. You’ll build and refine algorithms that detect, classify and understand unknown space targets in real time, working with senior engineers to develop models that underpin autonomous decision‑making in complex space environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in AI/ML, CS, robotics, or related field.
• 0–2 years in ML, robotics, or computer vision.
• Proficient Python and C++ with OpenCV experience.
• Experience taking ML models from training to evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the perception system at the core of Lodestar's autonomy software.
• Engage in literature review, training, evaluation, optimization, and deployment.
• Improve edge computing models and develop new components.
• Predict relative pose of dynamic space targets in challenging visuals.
• Integrate models into mission simulation and real-time pipelines.
• Maintain perception tooling and training infrastructure.
• Collaborate across teams to improve fidelity and scalability.
