Job summary

IVIRMA Global seeks a Per Diem Surgical Center Nurse to deliver high-quality nursing care across pre-operative, surgical, and post-operative phases. You will train to perform all required functions, support patients emotionally, and coordinate care with the surgical team.

The role requires 2+ years of surgical nursing experience, a nursing degree, BLS/ACLS certification, and proficiency with Excel/Outlook. Schedule includes Saturdays and Sundays with holiday rotation.

Job Purpose

The Per Diem Surgical Center Nurse is responsible for all nursing care and activities, ensuring that the highest quality patient care is maintained. This position will train to perform all functions as needed during the pre-operative, surgical and post-operative phases of patient care.

Essential Functions And Accountabilities

• Provides emotional support to the patient during the pre-operative, operative and post-operative stages.
• Performs all pre-operative and post-operative required activities so that the movement of the surgical procedures are coordinated, ensuring quality patient care.
• Pre-Operative - Completes patient pre-operative assessment and documents according to policy.
• Surgical - Performs all operative activities including checking the room for supplies, assisting the surgical technician setting up cases, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, surgical counts, transport of patient and report hand-off to the recovery team.
• PACU - Receives patient from the operating room with report of pertinent history and procedure (surgery performed, medications, fluids, complications, anesthetic/sedation/reversal agents, emotional status pre-procedure.)
• Assesses the patient on transfer from the post-anesthesia recovery room and documents that assessment.
• Monitors patients for condition changes and report any changes to the physician.
• Reviews the physician’s discharge instructions with the patient and/or the patient’s family and answers any questions the patient or others may have.
• Assists in the readying of the patient for discharge from the Center so that the patient receives continuity of nursing care.
• Follows proper infection control and safety precautions in the performance of all duties.

Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays with a variable start time beginning at 6:30 AM. A minimum commitment of three shifts per month is required, including participation in the holiday rotation. Required holiday shifts will be scheduled on non-weekend days.

Academic Training

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
