Job summary

Small Door, a membership-based veterinary care provider, seeks a veterinary assistant to join its state-of-the-art, stress-free clinics. You will support doctors, record vitals, assist in diagnostics and radiography, and help with medications while working in a team that values work-life balance and Fear Free care.

Weekend availability, lifting 50 lbs, and excellent client communication are essential to success in this role at Small Door.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of veterinary assistant experience.
• Weekend availability (Saturday or Sunday).
• Comfortable with computers and online tools.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses.
• Assess patients and record vitals.
• Assist doctors with diagnostics.
• Prepare and administer medications.
• Perform basic husbandry and nursing tasks.
• Monitor patient changes and provide compassionate care.
• Assist in radiography and sample preparation for labs.
• Run in-house labs and prepare samples for external labs.
• Support tele-triage shifts (if applicable).

What you’ll do

• Knowledge and ability to recognize medical emergencies and illnesses
• Assessing patients
• Recording vitals and assisting doctors with diagnostics
• Completing treatments as instructed by the doctor
• Basic husbandry and nursing care
• Monitoring changes in patients and providing compassionate care
• Assisting in and facilitating radiography capture
• Preparing samples for outside reference labs
• Running in-house labs
• Preparing medications
• Administering medications
• Working tele-triage shifts (additional stipend)
• Additional responsibilities to maintain a hospitable environment

Who you are

• 2+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant
• Availability to work weekends (Saturday or Sunday)
