Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital Milwaukee - West Allis is hiring a Unit Secretary to support patient care units on a per diem/as needed basis in Milwaukee, WI. The role involves clerical duties, order transcription, communications, and coordination of transport and tests.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and experience with medical files and terminology. This position offers part-time/per diem scheduling with opportunities for advancement and a supportive orientation

Qualifications

• Must have basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Experience handling medical records and confidentiality is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support to patient care units, including transcription of orders and filing reports.
• Coordinate transportation and follow-up testing as needed.
• Answer phones and relay messages to the appropriate staff.
• Maintain communication with Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Process paperwork in a timely manner.
• Order supplies from Materials Management as needed.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders and arrange transport for tests not offered on-site.
