Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist for a per diem position in Radiology-Ultrasound. The role involves performing ultrasonic imaging in OB/GYN, abdomen, or vascular areas, with attention to patient care and safety, under supervision as needed.

The successful candidate will be registered or registry eligible with ARDMS, complete a two-year ultrasound program, and demonstrate professional judgment and ethical conduct in daily practice.

Qualifications

• Registered or Registry Eligible with ARDMS.
• Completion of two year approved Ultrasound Diagnostic School.
• On-the-job training may be required (3–6 months).

Responsibilities

• Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure and ensures documentation for radiologist review.
• Positions patient and equipment to optimize imaging and comfort.
• Verifies informed consent and assists licensed practitioners during procedures; uses aseptic technique.
• Evaluates images and data for technical quality and records results.
• Assumes responsibility for patient comfort and safety during procedures.
• Provides patient care by identifying patient, explaining the procedure, prepping and assisting as needed.
• Maintains patient dignity and uses standard precautions throughout the visit.
