Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist for the Ultrasound department. The role involves obtaining and recording patient information, adjusting imaging procedures to patient size and condition, and ensuring high-quality scans in coordination with Radiologists.

Requires an Associate Degree in medical imaging or health-related field, ARDMS registration or eligibility, additional registrations in vascular/breast/GYN/abdomen, and BLS certification before 90 days.

Qualifications

• License/Certification/Education: Required: Associate Degree in medical imaging and/or health related field.
• Registration or registry eligible by the ARDMS.
• Obtains additional registration in Vascular, Breast, GYN, Abdominal.
• BLS healthcare provider required before completion of 90 day probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records patient clinical information and patient history, adjusting imaging procedures for patient size, age, or condition.
• Assists, transfers, and positions patients, ensuring modesty and safety; selects scan parameters per examination and patient condition.
• Processes and records scanned images per Radiologist protocol; reviews scans with Radiologists as requested; documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS.
• Checks operation of equipment, maintains QA/maintenance schedules, and keeps rooms clean and stocked to prevent cross contamination.
• Keeps up to date with ultrasonography developments via inservice study, courses, seminars or professional organizations.
• Maintains yearly competency in Trophon disinfection processes.
• Assists in other area/modalities as needed.

Education

Associate Degree in medical imaging or health related field

ARDMS registration or registry eligible

Additional registration in Vascular, Breast, GYN, Abdominal

BLS healthcare provider certification
