Job summary

Health First in Melbourne, Florida, is looking for a Surgical First Assist (SFA) to support surgeons in surgical procedures. The SFA will assist in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and perform preoperative and postoperative duties to enhance patient safety.

This role requires a graduate of a Surgical Assisting Program and proficiency in essential medical skills. The position involves physical agility and the ability to respond in emergencies.

Flexible scheduling and per diem arrangements are offered, with shifts running from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Ability to respond appropriately to stressful or life-tripping situations.
• Reliable transportation to respond to the facility within 30 minutes when on call.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable with daily schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other technical functions.
• Participate in volume replacement or autotransfusion techniques as appropriate.
• Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile setups and anticipating the surgeon's needs.
