Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, TX seeks a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) for a per diem role in the operating room. The CSFA works alongside the surgeon to position and prep patients, maintain sterile fields, and assist with instruments throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• CSFA credential required and certification in surgical technology/first assisting.
• Minimum required credentialing in First Assistant program.
• Five years of acute care OR experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Major Vascular, Thoracic, Open Heart, Orthopedics, OB/GYN and General surgeries.
• Current BLS for Health Care Providers from American Heart Association.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon directly during procedures to support safe outcomes.
• Provide exposure to the surgical site via retraction, suction, and instrument handling.
• Control bleeding by clamping, tying, cauterizing or applying pressure as directed.
• Perform suturing, stapling, incisions closures and apply dressings.
• Position and prep the patient in a sterile field and anticipate needs.
