Job summary

Burlington Public Schools is seeking per diem substitute teachers for the 2026/2027 school year in Burlington, Massachusetts. Positions are available at all levels K-12, and substitutes provide essential coverage to ensure student progress in the absence of regular teachers.

Qualifications

• 60 or more college hours verified via an official college transcript, Associates Degree, or equivalent
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong preference will be given to those with experience working with children, and who are available for all levels and able to work throughout the school year

Responsibilities

• Provide students with appropriate learning activities in the academic subject area
• Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and any special duties assigned by the building Principal
• Use the absent teacher's classroom discipline plan and give specific directions about desired behavior
• Consult with the administration and/or staff to resolve any questions/concerns
• Comply with all building and district-wide procedures and schedules
• Provide a summary for the absent teacher at the end of the day of work completed and any special situations encountered
• Demonstrated commitment to the District and our students by accepting a minimum of 5 assignments per semester
