Job summary

Aerotek has a contract Travel Shipfitter position based in Pascagoula, MS. The role requires hands-on shipfitting in heavy fabrication environments with focus on SMAW tack welding and precise blueprint interpretation.

Daily duties include cutting with oxy/propane torches, accurate layout of steel components, and safe operation of vibratory tools. Per diem and long-term project potential accompany onsite work.

Qualifications

• Shipfitting experience in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy industrial settings.
• Strong blueprint and weld symbol interpretation skills.
• Experience with SMAW tack welding and torch cutting/heating.
• Comfortable working in physically demanding environments.
• Ability to travel and work at either project location.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform multi-pass SMAW tack welding with consistency and high quality.

• Use oxygen/propane torches for cutting and heating materials.

• Interpret complex structural drawings, weld symbols, and blueprints with a strong understanding of fabrication requirements.

• Accurately work with fractional measurements and lay out steel components to precise specifications.

Ideal Candidate

This is a Contract position based out of Pascagoula, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
