Job summary

LABBB Educational Collaborative in Burlington, MA seeks an autonomous Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN/Teacher Assistant to provide per diem school-based nursing services in a substantially separate program within a public school setting. The role requires independence in clinical duties, collaboration with the Nurse Leader, and the ability to engage with students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Licensed Professional Nurse or Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
• Maintain certification in First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR for healthcare providers.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to commute between buildings/programs during the day.

Responsibilities

• Student sick visits to the health office, reports to parents and/or physician; provide follow-up care and emergency care.
• Provide medically prescribed interventions to students, including medication administration (per-state regulations).
• Collaborate with school administrators and personnel to improve school health climate.
• Prepare regular written reports for school officials describing services and student data.
• Implement disease prevention, infection control, and coordinate with local health authorities.
• Share information with team members about student health needs; advocate for students and families.
• Support wellness through health education and promotion; participate in in-service programs.
• Maintain health records including encounter reports, exams, immunizations, and intake documents.
• Respond to emergencies and dress appropriately for school health needs.
• Identify students at risk and establish referral systems using internal and community resources.
• Perform mandated school screenings and refer abnormal findings as needed.
• Provide school nursing coverage primarily at LABBB Lexington High School; may float to other LABBB Programs.
• Remain on campus during school hours and assist with arrivals/departures; attend field trips when needed.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, lifting, and ADL support as required.
