Job summary

Shrewsbury Public Schools is seeking daily substitutes for school nursing across nine locations. The role is in-person and per diem, with a pay rate of $37.50 per hour. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to equity and access for all learners and meet MA RN licensure requirements.

Responsibilities include coordinating health services, immunization programs, and emergency care, while maintaining confidential health records and collaborating with families and a school-based team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Current Massachusetts RN license.
• CPR certification/AED training from a recognized provider.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with students, families, and school team.
• Preference for school nurse educator license (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates health services for students within the school setting, aligning with educational goals and health needs.
• Implements state-mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and required reporting.
• Promotes positive safety practices within and outside the school building.
• Assesses student health issues and develops wellness programs to prevent disease.
• Provides prescribed interventions and emergency care as needed.
• Collaborates with families, school team, and community health providers to optimize student care.
• Maintains confidential health records in compliance with regulations and uses health record systems.
• Documents all encounters with students promptly.
• Develops individualized health care plans in collaboration with family and student when appropriate.
