Job summary

Fair Haven Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Custodian on a per diem basis to provide coverage for custodial staff as needed and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly school environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, be physically capable, dependable, and able to work independently while following directions. The position offers per diem hours based on district coverage needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Custodial or maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to perform physical duties associated with custodial work.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to respond to substitute assignments as needed.
• Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and members of the public.
• Must successfully complete all required employment and background screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling.
• Clean and maintain restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of rooms and facilities for school activities and events.
• Report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow established safety procedures and use cleaning products and equipment properly.
• Perform other custodial duties as assigned by the Head Custodian or Supervisor.
