Job summary

West Haven Community House is seeking a Custodian for per diem shifts in West Haven, CT. The role involves cleaning, security, minor maintenance, and adherence to safety procedures, with flexibility for hours.

The incumbent will handle cleaning equipment, maintain supplies, and assist with event setups while following OSHA guidelines and safety rules. A High School Diploma and custodial experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Three years of custodial experience.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment.
• Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials information systems.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain training as required for position (OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogens, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms to WHCH standards following checklists and procedures.
• Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs.
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, etc.
• Provide security for buildings, grounds, and parking lots while on duty.
• Maintain inventory of supplies needed and advise supervisor when need to be replenished.
• Set up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Attend safety meetings and trainings; including cleaning methods and products, First Aid, CPR, etc.
• Follow instructions regarding the use and storage of chemicals and supplies.
• Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment.
• Move boxes, furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools as assigned.
• Attend to emergencies and report to supervisor immediately.
• Support and comply with all WHCH policies, OSHA rules, health and safety regulations.
